Photos From 9/12 March on DC

Here are some of the photos I took on the day of the March. I spent most of my time people-watching and writing in a journal, taking pictures mostly for art references. There was so much going on and there were so many interesting people I would have missed if I had been taking pictures the whole time. I've been back a week, and I still can't find words to express all of the things I saw and felt on the trip. I was extremely inspired by the people I met, the architecture and history of DC, and the conversations along the way. I will share the art as I create it, and look forward to any feedback you may have.

The last couple of weeks have gone by in a blur of activity and excitement. I knew about the 9/12 March months ago, but had no expectation of attending. There just wasn't any money for it. I was disappointed. Three weeks ago, a fan of my work sent me a proposal. I could ride with him to DC, where he had been invited to stay in the home of someone who would provide lodging for anyone interested in attending the March.
With two weeks to plan, organize and prepare for the trip and the rallies, I was running myself ragged trying to prepare. I had a wonderful idea to promote my art, which I will share with you at some future date. In preparation for the rally, I made posters, signed and numbered to hand out at the March. I also made posters for a rally at Walter Reed Hospital in support of our wounded troops.
The experiences I shared, friends I made, and inspiration I received during the trip are too numerous to put in a single post. This will be the first of a series to describe what I saw and how I can use it to promote the Liberatchik project.
I will leave you for now, with the main point I took away from this long weekend: This is an extremely exciting event. An epoch. A point from which there is no turning back - and the collectivists among us are terrified.

Graphic Novels aren't Just for Kids Anymore

This week's featured artist at Liberatchik is a graphic novelist named Bosch Fawstin. Much of his work deals with the subjects of terrorism and Islam. As an illustrator, I have an appreciation of his technical abilities above the aesthetic of the work or the story line, both of which are amazing on their own. The clean, bold imagery of his characters is reminiscent of WWII propaganda posters. Having an affinity for that aesthetic, I am drawn to his work.
Fawstin's message is both patriotic and aggressive. He makes no apologies for his opinions, nor should he. The facts back up his position. In an artistic genre that often glorifies anarchy and belittles the 'evils of capitalism', Fawstin's work stands apart. He has created a hero for the 21st century with a clear vision of morality and justice. His work supports freedom, pays tribute to our troops who fight on our behalf, and shreds the propaganda in defense of Islamic terrorism...

Why do we honor our soldiers?

The answer is simple. We honor them because they keep us free. Regardless of how you perceive the government, the brave people who defend our freedoms deserve our thanks. On Memorial Day, I would like to leave you with some quotes from the Declaration of Independence to remind you why they fight, and why America is great.

On Memorial Day

In honor of Memorial Day, I am posting some of Alvaro's flags. My sloppy photography does not do them justice. However, I am fortunate enough to own Hope and Honor, and I can tell you no photo could do them justice. I am posting them as tribute to all of our fallen soldiers, those still serving, and those who have returned to civilian life. Thank you for your service. It is greatly appreciated. I am thankful for the freedom you have preserved.

Thank You for Your Service

I just read a very moving article at American Thinker. It's sad that people have to go to Europe to get perspective on the sacrifice of our soldiers. It's worse to think we have a President and First Lady who only see our servicemen as political pawns.
I think the author's tradition of honoring a fallen soldier every year is a very touching and fitting tribute to the huge sacrifice they made in the name of freedom.
My disdain for Michelle Obama is only surpassed by my feelings toward her husband.

The Americana Series

This drawing is the beginning of a new series on American iconography. I have decided to start this project for a couple of reasons. 1. People have complained in the past that all of my work is critical of government. 2. I enjoy drawing. 3. I would like to do some patriotic work. 4. This enables me to produce work quickly, that I can sell at an affordable price.
